Dr. Changfu Wei is a professor at the Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and jointly the College of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Guilin University of Technology.
He obtained his Ph.D from University of Oklahoma, USA in 2001, and subsequently joined the University of Vermont as a research assistant professor before returning to China. He is a TC106 (unsaturated soil) member of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE). Professor Wei holds the title of “one-hundred talents” scholar by the Chinese Academy of Sciences since 2008.
He is currently the Vice-Director of the State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering of China. He has authored or co-authored more than 100 hundred technical journal papers with diverse topics covering the continuum theory of multiphase and multispecies systems, chemo-mechanical coupling in geomaterials, multiphasic soil mechanics and related geohazard mitigation, and subsurface fate and transport processes.
