2015 Young Geotechnical Engineers’ Symposium on Finite Element Methods
2015 YGESFEM
INTRODUCTION
The 2015 Young Geotechnical Engineers’ Symposium on Finite Element Methods (YGESFEM) will be held at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai from 17th May to 18th May 2015. The scope of the symposium is very broad: it covers theory, assessment and implementation of state of the art numerical techniques. It will be the principal forum for exchange of research results in all aspects of geotechnical engineering using the finite element method. This symposium will bring together young students, researchers and practising engineers in the area of geotechnical engineering to discuss the latest developments in finite element methods. It will be an excellent opportunity to present your work, gain valuable feedback and build relationships. The symposium is hosted by IIT Bombay with support from Ram Caddsys Pvt. Ltd.
THEMES
There is no restriction on the theme other than it must demonstrate fundamental and advanced aspects of design and implementation of finite element methods for solving complex problems. Papers on innovation in research as well as construction in geotechnical engineering are welcome. The selected papers will be called for oral presentations and discussions. Please prepare a two-page technical paper of your work and email it in both MS word and pdf format to geofem2015@civil.iitb.ac.in. Proceedings of the conference will be made available in the form of CD at the time of registration. All selected papers and presentations will be judged by the YGESFEM Committee and the winner will be invited to present his/her work at the next annual conference.
REGISTRATION
The registration fee for the symposium is Rs. 5000/-. Students/ academicians will be given a discount of 25%.
The fee includes symposium material, lunch and refreshments. The payment will have to be deposited at the time acceptance of the paper via demand draft drawn in favour of “The Registrar, IIT Bombay” payable at Mumbai. Please note that no income tax is to be deducted at source from the course fee, as IIT Bombay is exempt from the same. Accommodation on twin sharing basis is available in the Institute Guest house for a limited number of participants on payment basis and with an advance request.
