FEATURE STORY: Perspectives on the US Water Resources Bill |
Both chambers of the US Congress have passed the first major water resources bill in seven years. The USD $12.3 billion legislation, which enjoyed exceptionally strong bipartisan support, is historic. It establishes a framework that may reduce feasibility studies from 15 years to three. It lacks earmarks. And: It specifically cites geosynthetics. The bill instructs the US Army Corps of Engineers to consider durable, sustainable solutions, “including geosynthetics”. The only thing left to do is get President Obama’s signature.
