The aim of the conference is to strengthen the relationships between practicing engineers, researchers and scientists within the fields of geotechnics, geotechnical engineering and engineering geology with special emphasis on the Nordic region.

All are invited to share their experience and knowledge with their Nordic colleagues.
The conference will be held in Harpa, the Concert Hall and Conference Centre in the heart of Reykjavík, Iceland.

On behalf of the Icelandic Geotechnical Society it is a pleasure to invite you to attend the 17th Nordic Geotecnical Meeting in Reykjavik, Iceland 25th – 28th of May 2016.  The aim of the conference is to strengthen the relationships between practicing engineers, researchers and scientists within the fields of geotechnics, geotechnical engineering and engineering geology with special emphasis on the Nordic region.All are invited to share their experience and knowledge with their Nordic colleagues. The conference will be held in Harpa, the Concert Hall and Conference Centre in the heart of Reykjavík, Iceland.

We are pleased to inform that our invited speakers have confirmed  their delegation at the Conference. Our invited speakers are:

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME

Lectures and papers
The conference will include invited lecturers and presentation of submitted papers, divided in themed sessions. Selected papers will have the possibility of being presented in a session.

Abstracts papers and proceedings
We invite you to submit an abstract, no more than 300 words for review. Abstracts must be submitted online before  June 1st, 2015.

Language
Articles are preferred in English but Nordic languages are accepted (Norwegian, Swedish and Danish).  All presentations, including posters, power-point and speech , must be in English.

Reception
Speakers, participants and accompanying persons will be invited to a reception in the evening of Wednesday 25th May. 
Get-together event
On the evening of Thursday 26th of May an informal get-together event will be arranged for the speakers, participants and accompanying persons.Accompanying persons
We welcome accompanying persons to the conference. A various day- programme will be presented and information on activities in Reykjavik will be available.Banquet
The conference banquet will be held on Friday 27th of May.Inspired by Iceland
Iceland in early spring is well worth visiting and it would be a good idea to set aside a little time for excursions.  On the link

The NGM


The first NGM was held in Stockholm, Sweden 1950.
Last NGM was in Copenhagen 2012.
Venue for NGM 2016
The conference venue is
HARPA
the new Reykjavík Concert Hall and Conference Centre, located at the harbour with a view to Mount Esja.
The harbour is at the center of town,
so attendees should be able to enjoy Reykjavik to the fullest.
Technical site visits
Technical site visits and excursions will be arranged on Saturday 28th of May. Sponsorship and exhibition
